Matt Geiger

Matt Geiger is an AV-rated trial attorney with more than 10 years of courtroom experience. Mr. Geiger represents small companies to global conglomerates in a spectrum of business disputes, including contract actions, business torts and misrepresentations, land development and construction litigation, shareholder and insurance coverage claims, officer, director and professional liability, creditor priority disputes, trade secret misappropriation, and the violation of noncompetition agreements. His commercial plaintiffs practice has experienced substantial growth in the representation of partners, shareholders and members seeking assets and control of closely-held companies. Mr. Geiger won a $9 million judgment in May 2009 for land developers after a two-week jury trial in Kansas federal court, and he was recognized as a 2009 “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine® for his achievements in commercial litigation.

Mr. Geiger has concentrated his white-collar criminal defense practice in parallel proceedings, representing clients who face criminal, civil and regulatory problems all at the same time. His cases involve allegations of conspiracy, securities fraud, bank fraud, health care fraud, tax evasion, antitrust, price and market collusion, computer crimes, environmental crimes, money laundering, public corruption and bribery. Mr. Geiger also advises clients and other lawyers in responding to government inquiries, and he has managed numerous internal investigations conducted by corporate clients. Mr. Geiger was recognized as a 2008 “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine® for his achievements in white-collar criminal defense.

Mr. Geiger graduated with distinction in 1998 from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he served as note editor of the Oklahoma Law Review and competed on the National Trial Team. He graduated cum laude from the University of Oklahoma in 1995 with degrees in journalism and business management. Mr. Geiger is admitted to practice law in the federal, state and appellate courts of Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma, and he is a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Mr. Geiger has tried cases to verdict in numerous Kansas and Missouri venues, but he appears most often in the United States District Court for the District of Kansas and the District Court of Johnson County, Kansas.
