Benjamin R. Prell

Ben Prell assists clients in resolving all manner of business-related disputes, with an emphasis on securities matters. He has experience litigating and arbitrating business, commercial, and securities cases, advising clients regarding securities regulatory matters, and defending against enforcement actions by the SEC, FINRA, and state securities regulators. Mr. Prell also counsels investment professionals and firms regarding registration and employment issues, including litigation and FINRA arbitration involving securities industry disputes such as restrictive employment agreements and forgivable loans. In addition, he provides guidance to registered investment adviser (RIA) firms in developing, revising, and updating compliance documents and programs.

Mr. Prell graduated from American University’s Washington College of Law (WCL), cum laude, in 2002. While attending WCL, he worked for the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, assisting federal prosecutors in the Fraud and Public Corruption Section. He also was a member of the National Mock Trial Team, and participated in the D.C. Law Students in Court Program. In 1999, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government with a minor in Criminal Justice, cum laude, from Northwest Missouri State University.

He is licensed to practice in Missouri, Kansas, and Virginia, and is a member of the Missouri and Kansas Bar Associations, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA), and the Virginia Bar. He has served as both the Chair and Vice-Chair of the KCMBA Securities Law Committee, and as a member of the Missouri Securities Advisory Committee for the Missouri Secretary of State, Securities Division.
